Reference for Customizing Settings and Prompts

(The info that was in this section has been replaced by the documentation of the settings that appears in the settings area within the ODB software itself, the “wrench”. Below we list some new settings to 1.0 not yet documented in the “wrench”)

ODB also allows you to modify over 160 settings and prompts. After you click the wrench icon in the upper right-hand corner of the ODB main screen, you must click the Modify Settings… button to make changes. In 1.0RC4, the modify settings button will be removed and the settings will be accessible by clicking on a settings category and then the appropriate tab – a much easier process. This operation opens a window labeled “Customize ODB Settings”. From here, you may click any of the settings listed in the box in the lower left-hand corner to edit them. The changes you make here will not immediately take effect. They usually require that you restart ODB.

The settings that have a question mark at the end are all "yes/no" settings. For text and numeric fields it is possible to go back to a value you accidentally erased by right-clicking the text box and then choosing 'undo' from the popup menu.

The settings are listed below in the order they appear within the "Customize ODB Settings" screen of ODB, with a description about what it is and how to modify it.

DefaultLabelKind – Set this to 30/page, 20/page, or tractor to assign a default to the label printing shortcut.

DefaultLabelPrinter – Name of printer to use by default for labels.
