Problems with ODB on same computer with multiple usersHi all, My organization previously downloaded ODB onto my computer (which uses Windows XP 2002), but under another user. The person who did this was a volunteer and there's not much information left behind about what was done. From what I could tell, it was the sample database. I downloaded ODB onto my user account on the computer, but ran into problems (the computer was asking for passwords that I didn't have). I assumed this had to do with ODB being on the other user account, and I uninstalled ODB from that user. Now when I try to run ODB from my account, I get an error message saying that certain shortcuts have been removed or modified and no longer work properly. In an attempt to start new, I tried to uninstall ODB from my account, but without luck (same issue of missing/modified shortcuts). I'm new to this (both ODB and large database management) and am feeling like I've dug myself into a bit of a hole. I'd like to have ODB installed properly onto my user account. Suggestions? Thanks! |

If you run the installer on your own user account again, you will be able to use all those nifty shortcuts again, which is a good thing.
However the database that is currenty set up is interfering with your ability to set up a database.
There are two solutions you can try:
1) try the default password to reset ODB -- this is admin, or if the old db was a version 0.9 ODB, it would be Administrator
2) if this does not work, merely delete the file
c:\program files\oc\odbsetup.dat
from your computer. This will force ODB to ask you for the location of your database again, or it will enable you to create a new DB.
It is possibility to set up ODB for many users on the same computer, however to do this it will be necessary to install the program in multiple locations, i.e. c:\progam files\oc1, c:\program file\oc2, etc. Most organizations just have one master database, so in practice this is only necessary at about 10-20% of the groups that are using ODB.
