Add SRC Code values to duplicates during Import

Is there a way within OBD to add SRC Code values to records that are flagged as duplicates during an import process?

We get a list of names, some already exist, most are new and we'd like to add the same SRC Code to all of the names. The new names get imported and get the SRC Code via the import process, but the duplicate names don't get added (since they're dupes) but they also don't get the source code.

I could always write a utility to do this but wondered whether others had a solution or whether this was a problem that should be solved within ODB?

Thanks,
Steve.

Steve -- it might be

Steve -- it might be something to add to ODB. However, the dupe checking during import in ODB is really a check for "possible" duplicates, really designed for manual importing of data. It will generate many false positives.

A better way might be to assign a SRC code to all new data imported and then run the dupe checking built into ODB in the Mass Action menu.

Then you end up with a higher quality dupe list and you can restrict this by recently entered data by right clicking Advanced Search, to get "Advanced search, including chosen items" ... once in the Advanced search screen click on the SRC code for the new data, and then click Search.

This will give you a very good list of new records that are probably dupes.

Your concepts were simple to understand that I wondered why I in no way looked at it prior to. Glad to know that there’s a blogger out there that certainly understands what he’s discussing. kaufen
